Our organic sheepskins from Iceland are more long-haired and raw than the silky soft lambskins from New Zealand. Our Icelandic lambskins are from a very robust breed that has lived its entire life free in the Icelandic nature. The lambskins that we sell from Iceland are more raw in their expression as the animals have adapted to the harsh Icelandic climate over time. Lambskins that are more raw and have a longer pile height make it easier for the animals to keep the rain and moisture out and the shorter wool makes it easier for the animal to keep warm. The colors of our Icelandic lambskins are natural in shades of white, black, black and white, brown and grey. The brown and grayish lambskins are rarer and therefore significantly more expensive than the other lambskins. Lambskin has many great natural properties that keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.
There is a natural content of lanolin in lambskin which makes it relatively easy to maintain lambskin as lanolin is dirt-repellent and if you accidentally spill on your lambskin, it is possible to clean it by wiping it with a wrung-out cloth.
