The Crate Side Table was originally designed in 1934 by Dutch architect Gerrit Rietveld, as part of his vision to recycle surplus wood from shipping crates. Now, the iconic side table has been relaunched in a modern collaboration between Rietveld Originals and HAY. The table is made from solid pine and treated with a water-based lacquer. The square design and extra storage shelf unite aesthetics and functionality in one piece of furniture. The balanced proportions and open construction make the table light and spacious, just as Rietveld's architectural principles dictate.
