Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) was one of Denmark's most influential furniture designers. Trained as a cabinet maker in 1934 and later a student at the School of Arts and Crafts alongside Hans J. Wegner. He worked under Kaare Klint and, as the chief designer for FDB furniture, set new standards for functional quality furniture at affordable prices. Mogensen created iconic designs throughout the 1950s and 60s and was known for his simple, timeless style. His furniture often came to life in everyday moments, sketched on napkins and matchboxes. Today, Bernstorffsminde A/S relaunches classics like the Shaker Table and BM1 chair in collaboration with Mogensen's family, still loyal to the original principles of function, quality, and aesthetics.
