The Crate Lounge Chair was originally designed in 1934 by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld to recycle surplus wood from shipping crates. Now the chair is relaunched in an exclusive collaboration between Rietveld Originals and HAY. This lounge chair is made from solid pine wood with a water-based lacquer and is available in several colors. The design is true to Rietveld's original drawings, with thoughtful proportions and an open, honest construction that makes the chair both simple to assemble and economical to produce.
