The Mogensen Bench without backrest is a further development of the original 3171 Mogensen Bench and clearly reflects Børge Mogensen's admiration for the functionalist tradition within American Shaker furniture. The Shaker movement's focus on functionality and simple, unornamented design has greatly influenced Mogensen's design languagea philosophy that harmonizes with his own approach to honest and timeless furniture design. The bench has been reinterpreted by the renowned architectural studio A Studio Between as a specially designed piece for the Frieze Art Fair in London in 2024. Here, it served as a central element in creating a community-oriented environment that invited relaxation, interaction, and conversation. The backless design provides a light and flexible expression, making the bench ideal for both public spaces and private homes.
